Stephen Whittemore, CFP®, CLU®, ChFC®, CLTC, CASL® volunteers his time on the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving’s Professional Advisory Committee.  Established in 1993, the Professional Advisory Committee provides valuable feedback to Hartford Foundation staff on philanthropic strategies, communications efforts, and community reactions and attitudes. The committee also advises the Foundation on trends, and opportunities to engage individuals and families in the region’s charitable community.

Steve and his wife, Diane sponsor Gifts of Music, a public/private program that supports music introduction for deserving students.  Steve studied trombone for many years at The Hartt School of Music. Diane graduated from Albertus Magnus College with a BFA concentration in Art Therapy. Through the unique collaboration of West Hartford Public Schools, the Community Division of Hartt School and the generosity of private donors, Gifts of Music provides private instruction to qualifying students, supports Supervised Practice Programs after school, sponsors an Instrument Recycling Program to put orphaned instruments into the hands of eager young students and helped to successfully launch and maintain a Suzuki program currently involving students in pre-kindergarten, kindergarten and grade one.

Stephen P. Whittemore, CFP®, CLU®, ChFC®, CLTC, CASL® was proud to sponsor the Second Annual Eric Amenabar Memorial Golf Tournament in 2012 to benefit the Eric Amenabar Memorial Scholarship Fund. Eric was a very important and loved member of our team at the Zuzolo Financial Group before his untimely death in July 2010.

Eric's family founded the Eric Amenabar Memorial Scholarship as a way to honor his life and his memory. The scholarship provides college scholarships to seniors enrolled in the Academy of Finance at East Hartford High School (Eric's Alma Mater). It is the Amenabars' hope that through his scholarship, Eric's memory will continue to live on and offer opportunities to students who are passionate about having successful futures.
